Mr Paul Stimpson
MBChB(Hons), MSc, FRCS(ORL-HNS) Consultant ENT/Head and Neck Surgeon (UCLH), Honorary Assistant Professor (UCL) Mr Stimpson offers expert care for adult Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) conditions and has a special interest in diseases of the head and neck including H&N cancer, thyroid and salivary gland disorders and a wide range of benign conditions including swallowing and voice problems. He completed his higher surgical training in the North Thames region. In addition to his specialist experience in London, he undertook a 12 month advanced H&N surgical oncology fellowship in Melbourne, Australia prior to taking up his substantive NHS consultant post in 2014. Mr Stimpson is a Consultant ENT/Head and Neck and Thyroid Surgeon at University College London Hospital (UCLH). He is lead clinician for the UCLH H&N Cancer Service and previously led the unified north central and northeast London H&N Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). He is actively involved with research, audit, training and teaching. He is a core member of the UCLH Thyroid MDT. In 2020 he was appointed Honorary Assistant Professor at University College London in recognition of his academic and teaching pursuits and is a member of the education board of the H&N Academy at UCL. Mr Stimpson's private practice is based at The London Clinic. He is chairman of The London Clinic Head and Neck Cancer MDT and a core member of the Thyroid MDT. |
Interests
- Mr Stimpson has over 30 published papers in peer reviewed journals.
- He has written multiple book chapters for major ENT textbooks.
- He has presented his work at major International, National and Regional meetings including The Royal Society of Medicine and The Royal College of Surgeons in London.
- He has a lead role in developing minimally invasive techniques for controlling head and neck cancer including transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and 'scarless' thyroid surgery (TORTVA) at University College Hospital and The London Clinic.
- He is lead clinician for the UCLH H&N Cancer Service and led the unification project for north central and northeast London H&N cancer MDT. This project created one of the largest head and neck cancer multidisciplinary teams (MDT) in the UK.
- He is a member of the education board for the University College London H&N Academy.
- Mr Stimpson sits on the Pan Thames Training Programme Management Group and has a lead role in organising regional training for higher surgical trainees in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery.
